Annual Gift: A gift to the Annual Fund gives us the greatest flexibility. If you are a longtime donor to Safe Haven, please consider increasing your gift level. Our longtime donors are the backbone of our organization. We are also blessed with many individuals who provide gifts on a monthly basis or several times per year. Let us know how we can make your preferred schedule convenient for you.

Bequests and Planned Gifts (“Leave a Legacy”): A planned gift to Safe Haven will let your vision of “refuge and hope for women and children” remain alive for future generations. Please see http://www.leavealegacywmi.org.

Employer Matching Gifts: This is a great benefit in some workplaces that can double or triple your gift.

Gift of Stock: A stock gift can sometimes provide more tax benefits for the donor than cash donations.

In-Kind Contributions: In-kind contributions of donated services such as plumbing, electrical work, painting and landscaping services are particularly beneficial.

Other Gifts: Safe Haven welcomes gifts of household items, artwork, office equipment, non-perishable food items and other personal property. Please see our wishlist.

Permanent Program Funding/The Safe Haven Ministries Endowment Fund: In an effort to provide long-term sustainability to fund our programs, Safe Haven has sought permanent program funding by establishing an endowment through the Grand Rapids Community Foundation. Our goal is to provide support to our clients who seek one-on-one counseling through the Protective Hands program by offering a sliding fee scale. Annual grants from the Safe Haven Endowment Fund make this possible.

Tax Incentives:
Because Ramoth House is an emergency shelter, all individual gifts that come into Safe Haven Ministries qualify for the 50% state tax credit, up to a $400 gift per married couple filing jointly. (We automatically designate all individual gifts to the shelter program.) Also, because Safe Haven has an endowment fund through a community foundation, any gift that is written to the Grand Rapids Community Foundation and is designated to go to the Safe Haven Ministries Endowment Fund will ALSO qualify for a Michigan tax credit, up to a $400 gift per married couple filing jointly. So, if you invest in Safe Haven by writing two checks for $400, one to Safe Haven and one to the Grand Rapids Foundation, you will get 2 $200 credits on your Michigan taxes, not to mention the federal deduction. So you see, it PAYS to invest in the ministries of Safe Haven!
Please speak with your tax advisor for further details. To contribute to our endowment fund, contact either the Grand Rapids Community Foundation at 454-1751 or Safe Haven at 452-6664 for more information.
United Way: Although Safe Haven Ministries is not a United Way funded agency, individual pledges to United Way can be designated to the non-profit of your choice. Please consider making a contribution to Safe Haven through the United Way campaign this year. It’s another great opportunity to support our ministry.
