Front Desk/Office Assistant: The front desk/office assistant provides much-needed services to support the staff members at Safe Haven's non-residential offices. Duties include helping with special projects, answering the phones, and greeting clients. This is a great position for anyone who is interested in getting to know more about the day-to-day life of a non-profit organization.
Shelter Aide (Daytime or Evening): Shelter aides help shelter staff members provide safety and continuity for the residents of Safe Haven's emergency shelter, called Ramoth House. Duties include answering the phone and taking messages, interacting with residents and children, maintaining a general overview of activities taking place at the shelter, and helping with special projects. This is a great position for anyone who has good interpersonal skills and who is interested in seeing first-hand the experience of families at our emergency shelter.
Childcare Provider: Childcare providers help the clients of Safe Haven by providing childcare while mothers attend support groups. Duties include working with another childcare provider to maintain general supervision over the children, doing crafts and playing games with the children and providing snacks as needed. This is a great position for anyone who enjoys working with children, and wants to learn more about the affects of domestic abuse on children.
Transportation Volunteer: Transportation volunteers help Ramoth House residents by providing transportation to and from appointments. This position greatly helps residents find housing, attend counseling, secure employment, and improve their health. This is a great position for anyone who is interested in an on-call, flexible job and who wants to help women move forward to a life free from domestic abuse.
Safe Dating Volunteer: Safe Dating volunteers present about healthy dating relationships to teens in local private and public high schools. Content includes the teen power and control wheel, cycle of abuse, red flags of an abuser, as well as activities to help them understand abuse and to identify a healthy relationship. Duties include driving to area high schools and presenting for one-hour class periods. This is a great position for anyone who enjoys public speaking and interacting with teens.
